If someone asked me to name a Swedish dish was before I came to Sweden, I would have probably only been able to name Swedish meatballs. My experience with this dish was also limited to long treks through the furniture maze known as Ikea. However, the Swedish meatballs that you can sample at Bullen-Två Krögare, are about as far from Ikea meatballs as I am to getting a Pulitzer prize for my writing.
Bullen-Två Krögare is a charming restaurant and bar located near the little square, serving up traditional local dishes in style. I had just one dish at this establishment, a lovely plate of phenomenon Swedish meatballs, 5 large ones in delicious brown sauce, with a heaping side of mashed potatoes, lingonberries, and cucumbers. It was plenty for just little old me and came in around $25USD, at the time of writing. I washed it down with a nice cold pint of beer at a table near the windows.
One thing that makes me an instant fan of any establishment that I visit is when the owner keeps their dog at business and allows customers to get some puppy love while you get your drink on. It took all of my willpower to keep my hands off Bullen-Två Krögare’s resident furball’s cute little head while I enjoyed my meal. But you better believe that once I was done eating and still working on my beer, I definitely gave that guy a lot of love and attention. The staffs were very helpful and regular in their checks upon my table to make sure I was satisfied with everything. All in all Bullen-Två Krögare has a very welcoming vibe.
