Designtorget is a well-known home décor center with a nice following of Malmo locals and fans from all over Europe. It is a store that plays with a dynamic of very dark spaces and very light spaces. In a way that it kind of reminds me of what an indoor camping would be like, with deep forest green, rich browns and cool slate graze alongside signature pieces such as a round lamp designed to look physically similar to a hand lantern but with a modern twist.
It is also a little bit vintage somewhat reminiscent of the late 50s or early 60s. They also play a lot with natural material such as cacti, floras and a variety of plants and succulents. Most of their tables and chairs are made out of light natural woods, rounded to smooth perfection. So smooth they will make you want to run your fingers over every piece of furniture finely crafted to perfection. Their ceramic glassware usually comes in one solid color and while simplistic playoff really beautifully with bright pastel colors against more neutral large pieces such as shelves or tabletops.
Designtorget also has interesting things about texture. You will find a variety of textures among pieces scattered around the shop, from fuzzy ombre circle lights to large pillows made to look giant knits on a sweater. You will even find interesting seasonal pieces such as shaggy silver disco ball light fixture. The staffs are also extremely helpful. Designtorget’s model is “clients are not supposed to have ideas, they have problems.” Designtorget sees their job as solving those problems for you in a beautiful and modern way.
