Making a commitment to sustainable food is an admirable action now more than ever. We are all responsible for taking care of the environment and working to make as little of a negative impact as we possibly can. One way to reach this goal is to eat at restaurants in the Sustainable Restaurant network, like West Coast, when we dine out.

Being sustainable means buying from environmentally friendly producers and adopting ecological practices in your restaurants. It also means buying locally. Not only does this support the small businesses and local economy, but decreases carbon emissions on food transport.

Now, I understand we can’t base our decision to eat at a restaurant on the sole fact that they work to decrease their carbon footprint. However, the food here is also unforgettable. Using local raw ingredients means you taste the food at the peak of freshness. The vegetables are crisp and succulent, the meat is naturally flavorful without harmful additives, and the herbs are perfectly savory.

West Coast is a seafood restaurant so the majority of the dishes are fish and shellfish. They do have vegetarian and meat options, but if you even barely like seafood, this is the place to eat it. The  fish stew with fennel and lobster broth is bound to become your new favorite comfort food after just one spoonful and the shrimp with rye bread is perfect for sharing with families.

Each dish is expertly prepared with care and the staff is always happy to try to work around allergies and special diets.
