Set in the low rolling hills and golden fields of Österlen, Skåne, lies Gunnarshög Gård. The Gunnarshög farm is a falmily run business since 1897 that now focuses on cold press canola oil (rapsolja) as well as some mustards, vinegars and even some skin care products made from the oils.
The drive out to the farm is picturesque and offers lots of opportunities to stop and get a post card perfect picture. The friendly staff in the café and the shop are happy to chat about the farms history and products. Gunnarshög Gård is welcoming from moment you turn up the long drive way to the parking area. You might be greeted by a friendly cat or a gorgeous chocolate lab and the welcome area is filled with activities for children such as toy tractors to ride on and even a converted container that houses a pool of the canola seeds for kids to hop around.
The tours are a unexpected highlight! Both informative and interactive for kids and adults. The guided tour last for about 20 mins and shows how the different seeds that are grown at Gunnarshög Gård are processed and used. A bit of comedy and a lot of interesting facts make the factory tour a great afternoon stop on a Skåne road trip and one or Best in Malmö’s favorite “Utflyktstips” for the summer plus it is free. There is an opportunity to be a part of the process and cold press your own bottle of canola oil for 50 kr and kids can decorate the bottles in a well thought out craft area.
