Gerege is a Korean styled restaurant in Malmo. It is unfair to compare a Korean restaurant in Sweden with an actual Korean restaurant in South Korea. However, having experience both I will say that this location doesn’t do as bad of a job as I have seen other Korean restaurants in Sweden do. It is important to remember when judging specialty cuisine restaurants in foreign countries that restaurant owners cater their menu to the taste of the majority of the patrons in the country where the restaurant is located.
I doubt many Swedish people would be able to handle the level of spice that most dishes in authentic south Korean style restaurants have. One thing we really liked about this place was the ease of which we can order these restaurant quality dishes for home delivery. I’ve also noticed on social media that the restaurant has a large number of hard-core fans and regulars that frequent it. If you’re looking for affordable Asian or specifically Korean food this place might be what you’re looking for. Soup, teeny vegetable dishes, one main course, and a jug of water only costs about 69 SEK. As do most places in Malmo please take note that this restaurant only except cards does not except cash.
Truth to South Korean style, they also have a very nice variety of alcohol. In my experience Korean food is best enjoyed imposed or slightly drunk. Seriously next time you have Korean food, try it out. If you’re feeling really adventurous feel free to try out the soju.
