Barbro bills itself as ‘your neighborhood restaurant’ but the superior quality of the Japanese sushi and other Asian fare available at the upscale bistro makes it a must-visit locale during your next outing in Stockholm.
Located at 13 Hornstulls strand in the Hornstull area of the city’s Sodermalm district, Barbro offers a simple yet elegant Japanese- and Scandinavian-informed atmosphere in both its dining area and newly refurbished During Barbro bar and cocktail lounge. Full table service is available in both the dining area and the bar with the focus on Asian cuisine but with some Scandinavian favorites as well, such as steak tartar. Prices are fairly reasonable with meals including deep fried dumplings, blackened salmon and tamago maki, tempura fried spicy tuna, and beef sashimi costing about 115-180 kr with a menu available for parties larger than 6 people for 410 kr per person. The venue boasts an extensive offering of drinks including sake, champagne and cava, red, white and rose wine, beer on tap and by the bottle, ciders, alcohol-free beverages, and in-house cocktails.
Open only for evening dinners – hours are Tuesday through Thursday 17:00-23:00, 17:00-00:30 Friday and Saturday, and 17:00-21:00 Sunday – Barbro has seating available for walk-ins but space fills up fast and reservations are suggested. Large parties can be accommodated and the entire downstairs area can be rented for an event. And the friendly and helpful wait staff will always be on hand with wonderful service, terrific suggestions, and smiles to make your visit a memorable one!
