Although the name may not suggest it, Bistro Rigoletto is a welcoming French-style restaurant at Kungsgatan 16 in the heart of central Stockholm’s Norrmalm district. It takes its moniker from the historic Rigoletto cinema located right next door. And while situated on one of the busiest streets in the city, patrons say that the traditional red booths, black and white tables, chairs and tiled floors, and splendid artwork make them feel as if they have temporarily been transported straight to Paris!
Run by the Ahlbom family, which has owned and operated taverns and nightclubs across Stockholm for more than 30 years, Bistro Rigoletto is open seven days a week from lunchtime until late night, so you can always stop in for a nice mid-day meal, relaxed dinner, quick bite after a film, or late night drinks with friends. The Bistro even has a VIP area upstairs in the neighboring theater that is available for private parties or large events, and the Alexander Crime Trio perform live jazz at the venue every Friday starting at 19:00.
The food is good, if a little pricey, and you can choose from selections such as hash browns, smoked salmon, and their own toast Rigoletto to start, move on to main courses including fish and seafood, steak tartar, grilled steak and burgers, and vegetarian fare, and finish up with a dessert of ice cream or sorbet, macarons, truffles, or of course, crème brulee. They have a wide variety of wines, beers and mixed drinks, specializing in unique combos of gin and tonic, and you can even grab an omelet if you like!
