Situated on a quiet, pedestrian street in what may be the most ‘European’ part of Stockholm and housed in a building that has the outward appearance of what must inside be a French-style eatery, you will find Bistro Sud, a charmingly cozy venue whose selections are as eclectic as its décor.
Located at Swedenborgsgatan 8 in the city’s Sodermalm district, the stylish Bistro bills itself as modern and Swedish, offering a mix of French, European and Scandinavian cuisine. Fish and seafood dishes play heavily on the menu, with salmon, char, perch and mussels offered as main courses and oysters available as a starter, but more expected fare can also be had, including steak and beef tartar, along with pasta dishes, sandwiches such as burgers and bookmaker toast, and even BBQ shortribs with salsa! And, of course, the dessert menu would not be complete without the requisite truffles, mousse and crème brulee.
There is an extensive wine list available, including a generous offering of champagnes and cava, and the venue is open seven days a week from 17:00-24:00 so patrons have plenty of time to enjoy a late night snack, delicious meal, or linger over drinks with friends inside the spacious bar and dining area or outside on the terrace in the warmer months.
As you might expect, prices tend to be on the high side, even for this part of Stockholm, with main courses running from 225-275, but the food is well-prepared and unique, service is good, and the atmosphere is welcoming, so it might just be worth a look on an evening out with friends!
