It is worth the hike, up the mountain to Klockstapelsbacken 3 at the very east end of Stockholm’s Sodermalm district, just for the view. From the gazebo at the top, now Fafangan restaurant and event center, you can look out over the Saltsjon waters to Gamla Stan, the city’s Old Town, the inlet, and the beautiful, green island of Djurgarden.
Completely renovated and under new management as of spring 2019, Fafangan is a spectacular view all its own, isolated on its very own hilltop and surrounded by perfectly manicured trees and greenery. Not surprisingly, the venue offers outdoor seating and dining during the summer months, although its 100-seat restaurant and new glass pavilion can accommodate any dining experience, party, or event.
Fafangan hosts its own events as well as being available for both business and personal bookings. Both business events and conferences can be accommodated as well as personal occasions such as weddings, baby showers, baptisms and baby namings, and funerals and receptions.
But Fafangan still functions everyday from 11:00-17:00 as a restaurant open to the dining public. Fresh ingredients infuse its seasonal, Swedish-inspired dishes, including cold-smoked salmon, 3-Day BBQ Ribs, chicken, shrimp and chevre salad, pancakes with jam and cream, and cheeseburgers, all for about 165-270 kr. And the eatery is famous for its lactose- and gluten-free weekend brunch buffets, which feature fresh-made pancakes to order, scrambled eggs, potatoes, a variety of charcuteries and cheeses, classic Swedish skagen, mini hamburgers and pizzas, salads, chicken skewers, and a fully-stocked dessert table, all for 365 kr per person.
