Videgård is a unique restaurant offering a one of a kind fusion of foods. They offer a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and Peruvian cuisine. This may sound like a strange combination, however the recipes are actually based off traditional recipes created by Chinese and Japanese immigrants in Latin America from the 1800s.
This peculiar fusion is called Nikkei and Chifa and combines all of the best parts of each culture’s cuisine. You get the elegance and precision of Japanese cuisine, added to the techniques and flavors of Chinese food. That means plenty of spicy, sweet, and savory flavors combined. Finally, they blend this all with the ingredients used in Peruvian cooking; meaning lots of root vegetables, chili, lime, and fresh seafood.
The lunch menu is a simple yet tantalizing variety of bowls. You can choose something like the orange chicken bowl with pickled vegetables, avocado, and spicy mayo or the vegan tofu bowl with Chifa dressing, marinated mushrooms, avocado, vegetables, and soybeans. If you’re not interested in the regular bowls, create your own with the 3 in 1 option.
At dinner the menu is full of impressive flavor combinations and options. You can get sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. There are meat, seafood, and vegan dishes as well. For example the Nikkei menu offers treats like short ribs, while the Chifa menu features an entree of MaPo squid.
The restaurant also has amazing custom cocktails, a great selection of beer, and snacks to enjoy at the bar if you’re not ready for a full meal.
