The Välfärden- kok & kaffe is a cafeteria-style restaurant serving up gourmet European, Swedish, and Scandinavian styled cuisine with an interesting but limited menu. Guests have commented that the interior is set up a little bit like a school cafeteria with that same iconic lunch line that might be reminiscent of your childhood.
The interior is designed with a nice kind of shabby chic, retro feel. It is actually quite charming. As I stated before the menu is a bit limited. You have your pick from about on average three daily specials and get free range access to a small but wholesome salad bar. They also offer smoothies and always have at least one vegetarian option. One thing that is very nice about this place if you happen to have allergies is that they clearly state all of the potential allergens on a little card in front of the dishes that they serve.
Price wise, the Välfärden- kok & kaffe is quite solidly on the steep side for a serve your self cafeteria-style restaurant. Lunch would generally run you about 100kr. They also serve breakfast, which is usually the same price, but the quality of food is well worth the hefty price tag. They serve such succulent dishes as smoked salmon salad, baked fillet over creamy sweet potatoes, a variety of fika dishes and freshly baked pastries with pumpkin seeds sprinkled on top. Whether you come alone, with your partner, or with a large party, the Välfärden- kok & kaffe is sure to please you. You will be wanting to come back.
