2019 was a pretty great year for movie goers. We had our first big 18+ success Joker, we had some great horror and of course a wide variety of genres all throughout the year. Without further ado, here are my top 5 movies I watched this year!
It probably comes as no surprise to anyone who knows me that I like good old action movies. Stallone is and has always been a powerhouse of violence and action. Even though he is now rather old he can still kick a lot of butt and that is exactly what he does in this movie!
I was genuinely worried that this rendition of Godzilla was going to suck. But to my happy surprise it was pretty great. It had everything I want out of a monster movie. A boring plot that nobody cares about and huge monsters fighting. I wanted to see monster violence and this movie truly delivered!
One of the first movies I watched this year was a documentary about WW1. It is truly one of those movies that grabs you and tells the story of war through a modern lens without being preachy or filled with information. It reminds us all about the horrors of war in a genuine and scary way.
Another movie I was worried going into. I loved the first movie and thought that this was going to be a disaster of a sequel. But to my delight I am happy to inform that the formula still holds up. It’s funny, it’s violent and the humor have aged beautifully. Definately my comedy of the year!
This probably doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Joker is a rabbithole of despair, horror and dread unlike most things I have seen, and I have seen a lot of disturbing movies. It’s a gripping tale without morals or reasons. Joker is one of those movies that makes you truly scared and moves you to the core. Truly a masterpiece of Cinema!
This year has had a lot of great movies and these are just some of my favorites. Some honorable mentions are The Lighthouse, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and Come To Daddy. I truly look forward to what next year has to bring! Happy new years dear readers! See you in the next decade!
